Thank you for reading today. Our greatest desire is that you would be encouraged in the Lord! In my daily time with God in His Word today, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about continuous and complaining people. Our desire is to be an encouragement and help to those who need help. The number one thing that I do as a Biblical Counselor and marriage speaker is to try to help people to move out of a feelings dominated, emotion controlled life and into a controlled by the Holy Spirit, Biblical principled driven life.

Dear Friend-Avoid Contentious and Complaining People

What is the deal with complaining contentious people? In your life today, unfortunately, you will hear a lot of negative and unbelief dumped into your ears. Identify it for what it is. A murmuring person always spouts unbelief! Don’t be the person who spouts unbelief to others around you!

Spiritually Discern Complainers

Recognize the Spirit of murmuring that has entered someone, poisoning every conversation. Do not participate. Take the conversation upward by stating, “What an opportunity for God to perform a miracle!” It will please God.  Remember there are those who always look at everything from a negative perspective.

A complaining person is not in fellowship with God and poisons every spiritual conversation. They are not Spirit Controlled People! They consistently ask negative questions that turn the conversation to negative.

Numbers 11:1, And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

God hates complaining!  Here He dealt with it severely. In the New Testament He compares what happened to the Israelites and what we should not do.

1 Corinthians 10:5-11 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.  (6)  Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.  (7)  Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.  (8)  Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.  (9)  Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.  (10)  Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.  (11)  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

So the answer is here.  A complaining murmurer has decided to live for a lust(s) in their life and everything else is viewed through their lusts. They are carnal (selfish) people. They justify their selfish behavior but criticize and complain about others. It is shows the depth of their spiritual immaturity.

Mark Contentious People

Note those who always create conflict, complain, and are hostile toward change. Do not give them the opportunity to plant the seed of contentiousness.

Romans 16:17, Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Remember, be the vessel God can use today by not letting yourself be a negative and complaining person. Focus on dealing with your sin of unthankfulness and repenting of it. Be all you can be for Him today and have a powerful testimony of not being a complaining and contentious person. Be a Spirit controlled person honoring the Lord with your thoughts and your speech. The most important thing you can do in your life is to understand and apply the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. We have a wonderful booklet on the web site called, How to Have a Real Relationship with God-The Work of the Holy Spirit in a Person’s Life. If you do not understand what it means to be a Spirit controlled person click here.

Praise Him whenever He gives you a blessing.  Make sure to lift up the opportunities the Lord gives you each day to praise and thank Him especially when someone else is complaining or being negative.

Hebrews 13:15, By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
