Learning to Make No Provision For The Flesh

Thank you for reading today. Our greatest desire is that you would be encouraged in the Lord today! In my daily time with God today, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about not being concerned about going it alone.

We live in an atmosphere in the church today of seriously living for the flesh.  I believe the biggest cause of defeat, discouragement, depression and destruction today is living a life for the flesh! This is an epidemic even in churches where there is sound Bible preaching and teaching. This past Sunday I spoke on, Not Making Provision For the Flesh. Every person who comes for Biblical Counseling at Hope Biblical Counseling Center, are seriously making provision for the flesh in their lives and are deceived in it by Satan! So much so, that they lead a rebellious and destructive life. They are interested in fun, worldly adventures, entertainment, their lusts, and friends etc.  No matter what the flesh influence is!  This is the biggest problem we have today with children not growing up to live for God, because most of what we do is encourage them to lust after things, friends, activities, social media, and the things of the world. We create heart issues for them!  Then we wonder what happened when they do not grow up to live for God!

Ephesians 6:4-6, And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  (5)  Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; (6) Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Make No Provision For the Flesh in Your Life

Romans 13:12-14, The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.  (13)  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting (carousing) and drunkenness, not in chambering (sexual promiscuity-lewd behavior) and wantonness, (sensuality) not in strife and envying.  (14)  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

A person who makes provision for the flesh is not walking honestly, they are deceived. They want you to believe they desire to live for God. They think they are living for God!  However, that is far from the truth.

What About Presumptuous Sins?

Psalms 19:12-14, Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.  (13)  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.  (14)  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

A presumptuous sin is a sin that someone hides, but they set out to do it no matter what. They make provision for it!  They look for how they can do it. They know it is wrong, and may lead you to believe they think it is bad, but they will do it again and again. They also presume that God will not do anything about it.  It is something they have to have!  It is an idol(s) of their heart.  Therefore they are rebellious people and are not living their life honestly before God and man.

Aloneness…Removes The Stain Of Wrong Influence

Every godly person must be willing to believe God and apply His Word to their life.  When others seem too busy or uncaring to encourage him or her and are living presumptuous and rebellious lives, sometimes you have to go for God’s desire alone. There is nothing wrong in that. Every great inventor, such as Thomas Edison, faced waves of ridicule and scorn before their life was recognized and appreciated. Don’t forget to keep your focus on where you are going and refuse to be discouraged by the present circumstances that will soon pass.  When others want to live a “making a provision for the flesh life”, don’t wavier!  If you have to go it alone realize and remember He will never leave us or forsake us!

Hebrews 13:5-6, Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  (6)  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

What is the Answer…Yielding to Him Not To Yourself!

Romans 6:11-13, Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  (12)  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  (13)  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Remember, be the vessel God can use today by asking the Holy Spirit to show you if you are making any provision for the flesh in your life. Are you living in presumptuous sin?  To cleanse you from these sins! Focus on dealing with your sin of rebellion and repenting of it. Verbally ask God to show it to you! Be all you can be for Him today and have a powerful testimony of living a Spirit controlled yielded godly life! We encourage you today to make Jesus Christ real in your life by humbly yielding to Him living for Him. Tell God you want to yield yourself to Him today! Remember you are never alone when you are focusing on living for Jesus Christ!
