Thank you for reading today. Our greatest desire is that you would be encouraged in the Lord today! In my daily time with God today, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about learning to deal with vindictive people.

Recognize Vindictive People for What They Are

In our Biblical counseling ministry, I have seen so many times people get themselves bent out of shape over little things and they are just not correctable. Vindictive people are people who rationalize their behavior which is so many times because they are not truly saved or they are compromising their life with sin.  In essence, if they are saved they are backslidden people. They live for their lusts and pride is their motivation. Heaven help anyone who tries to turn them around!

James 4:1-10, From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?  (2)  Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.  (3)  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.  (4)  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.  (5)  Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?  (6)  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.  (7)  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  (8)  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.  (9)  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.  (10)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Vindictive People’s Desire is to Hurt Those
Who Try to Correct Them

So, what does the Bible tell us to do?  What is God’s desire?

Proverbs 18:13, He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Do not always rush to judgement!  Make sure you have heard both sides of a story before you make any decisions.  This is one of the greatest failures of this day. Ask God to show you what the motivation of this person(s) is? Great hurts happen when people jump to conclusions.

God Does Not Want Us to Be Hurtful to Others
God Wants Us to Love Our Brother

1 John 3:10-18, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (11)  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.  (12)  Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.  (13)  Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.  (14)  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.  (15) Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.  (16)  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  (17)  But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  (18)  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Our desire should be to encourage our brother.  Not be a stumbling block to them.

Don’t fight with vindictive people!  Turn them over to God!

Remember, be the vessel God can use today by asking the Holy Spirit to show you if you are living a life that is not useable for God? Are you living in the sin of allowing selfish and carnal thinking to rule your life? If you are being vindictive ask God to forgive you and cleanse you from the sin of being vindictive! Apologize for the behavior. Be all you can be for Him today and have a powerful testimony of living a Spirit controlled yielded godly life that is serving and living with joy. We encourage you today to make Jesus Christ real in your life by humbly yielding to Him and living for Him, not the life of selfish carnal thinking. It is an important choice! Tell God you want to yield yourself to Him today and be a useful rewarded servant!
