Thank you for reading today. Our greatest desire is that you would be encouraged in the Lord! In my daily time with God today, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about helping people who need help. In my 41 years of pastoral ministry, I told our churches many times, it is the churches responsibility to help people where they are. That is what Jesus did. There are all kinds of hurting people in this world.  People who have great needs who need someone to care about them. Actually, that is the whole purpose behind Jesus Christ coming into this sinful world. God the Father looked at sinful world and sent his Son to die for sinners like you and me. Jesus Christ is the answer for hurting people!  Jesus Christ is the answer for all people!

The worst hurt anyone will ever feel is to die not knowing Jesus Christ as Saviour. If you are really saved it should change your life. This will be the most important decision of your life to repent of your sins and receive Jesus Christ as Saviour. Then what? The passage below tells us clearly obedience to God’s commands are extremely important.  So, we need to teach people this importance to help them!

Psalms 119:1-2, 4, 9-12, 50, ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.  (2)  Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. (4) Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. (9) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.  (10)  With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.  (11)  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.  (12)  Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.  Psalms (50) This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

We Need to Teach People How to Have a
Real Relationship With God

We will not teach people how to have a real, intimate, personal, and passionate relationship with God without having compassion for them.  That is the reason I am a Biblical Counselor.  I want to help people and have compassion on them.

Hebrews 5:2, Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

I know for my own life, I am glad for the people who have taught me and have helped me. They cared for me! I was an ignorant person, living in my pride and arrogance and when I was 3 weeks from being 20 years old a United Parcel Service driver, Rick Bratcher, who had witnessed to me and took his lunch hour every day for seven months talked to me about the Lord!  He had compassion on me! I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my Saviour.  I was probably one of the least likely persons to get saved.  But thank God somebody cared!  I have been privileged to sit under pastors who cared about me and taught me. I am thankful for the mentors in my life. Most of all though I decided, it was my choice, to desire to learn and grow as a Christian.

However, even after getting saved I was ignorant of what God really had for me.

Hebrews 5:2, Who can have compassion on the ignorant, (that was me) and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. (That was me.)  However, I decided not to stay ignorant.  As a married student in Bible College, I went there after being saved a year.  I walked down an alley for several blocks to school each morning.  I prayed on the way there every day, “Lord I am so far behind everybody else, please teach me.  Help me to learn!” Some days I cried to God because I so much wanted to learn. He did teach me!  I devoured my Bible daily asking the Holy Spirit to teach me! He did!

Listen, this is a personal matter.  God has the answer for the person who is ignorant of God’s answer.  Those who are wayward. Those who have problems because of their sin.  You mean God has the answer for them?  Yes, He does!

Who Can Have Compassion on Them?

The question is raised here who can have compassion on the ignorant and the people with problems? Notice the last phrase, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. Folks, the person who can have compassion on them is the person who has dealt with it and has focused on God’s answers in their life through Jesus Christ.  The person who submits themselves to God daily and asks the Holy Spirit to teach them!

There are all kinds of hurting people out there who need those who have the Biblical answers to have compassion on them. God’s Word has the answer for their life. We need to learn how to skillfully use it to help them have a real, intimate, personal, and passionate relationship with God.  To be able to make Biblical long term change in their lives.

Let me encourage you.  As this pandemic gets worse there are going to be many people in need. There already are and there will be many more!  There are going to be people that need you!  Are you prepared to skillfully use God’s Word to help them?  Be a person who makes a decision today, to be a learner!  Be a person who wants and knows how to use God’s Word to help others. It will also help you!

Romans 15:4, For whatsoever things were written aforetime (before us) were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Where is the answer? God’s Word!  Notice we are to use it to give others HOPE!  People need hope in their lives right now! They need you to help them!

Who Will Help Us?

Romans 15:13, Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The God of hope!  And He is the God of hope!  Let the Holy Spirit help you today through His power by submitting to Him. We all need God’s help right now!  Let’s focus on being the person God wants us to be.  Maybe, God wants you to change somethings in your life.  Ask Him what it is.  Maybe you have lost your job, a loved one through the virus (I understand you pain). You are struggling financially.  Maybe there are things God wants you to change now.  Many people right now think we will just ride this out and get back to our life.  Maybe not.  Maybe everything is going to change because God wants us to change.

Remember, be the vessel God can use today by asking the Holy Spirit to show you if you are living your life not dealing with your sin.  Are you living in the sin of allowing selfish carnal thinking or listening to rule your life and making you lie or rationalize your sin. Be all you can be for Him today and have a powerful testimony of living a Spirit controlled yielded godly life that is serving and living with humility, joy and peace! We encourage you today to make Jesus Christ real in your life by humbly yielding to Him and living for Him, not the life of selfish carnal thinking and speaking. It is an important choice! Tell God you want to yield yourself to Him today and be a trusting, useful, and rewarded servant! Be the person who can help, not the person who always needs help! Rejoice in Him today!

We pray for many of you daily!  May we all humble ourselves before God and focus on having compassion on others!

With a heart to glorify God and serving the God of answers,
