Thank you for reading today. Our greatest desire is that you would be encouraged in the Lord! In my daily time with God in His Word today, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about “there is no other option” principle. Right now it is a difficult time for many around the world because of COVID-19. With social unrest, lives lost, jobs lost, fear, distrust, despair, discouragement, difficulty in finances and not knowing what the future holds. People are under a lot of pressure.

Our desire is to be an encouragement and help to those who need help. The number one thing that I do as a Biblical Counselor and marriage speaker is to try to help people to move out of a feelings dominated, emotion controlled life and into a controlled by the Holy Spirit, Biblical principled driven life.

My Life Is a Mess

Most people who contact us at Hope Biblical Counseling Center use some sort of “my life is a mess” beginning. Here is a story with the names changed from our case file. Beth and Randy came for marriage counseling. Beth had grown up in a home with a philandering father and an angry mother. She had been living with a man without being married for a few years. On Christmas Eve, she came home and found the man she had been living with, with someone else. She stated to him she was going to go get her father for help. By the time they got back, he had her belongings packed up and sitting outside in the snow. The other woman was already moved in!

Randy had gone to church most of his married life. He went to church and had a good job working for a major automobile company. He came home one evening to find his wife had run away with the music minister from their church. Randy had focused on working many hours and buying many toys, but was never home.

Later Beth and Randy met and decided to get married. They were experiencing problems from their past and a bucket load of problems they brought into the marriage. They were ready to call it a day. Their lives were a mess, with piled up hurt, low self-esteem, anger, bitterness, and wanting out of their marriage. Failed relationships and wicked living.

What to do now?

As they started into our Biblical Counseling program, we taught them how to have a real, intimate, personal, and passionate relationship with God. They were living for their lusts and we had to deal with that. They both professed to be saved.

I Corinthians 6:18-20, Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. (19)  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  (20)  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

When I showed this couple these verses, we went through several things that were not godly in their lives. I then ask them, “Has you behavior been honoring and glorifying to God? Answer seriously.” “No!” I asked them to read verse 20, For ye are bought with a price (the blood of Jesus Christ): therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. So, what is God’s will for your life?  Answer to “honor and glorify God.” So, now we are going to learn what that really means.

There is no other option

Folks, in the first few weeks of Biblical counseling the people generally struggle because of their lusts, but they are learning and starting to see some light at the end of their tunnel. Nothing ever really changes though until the counselees come to the point that they realize there is no other option. What is that option? You can no longer live for your lusts, you now have to learn and practice being a Spirit controlled person. There is no other option in the room, otherwise your life will continue to be a mess and there will be one failed relationship after another. One mess after another. A lot of hurt, pain, agony, anger, bitterness, and failure!

Folks, listen carefully, there is no other option in the Christian life. When the counselee gets that and uses the Biblical tools we give them everything changes! However, they have to get the no other option principle.  Until then, they still focus on themselves and what they want. We repeat it many times, “there is no other option in this room!”

God loves you and He wants you to have His best in your life. In the bookstore on our web site, there is a booklet calledHow to Have a Real Relationship With God-The Work of the Holy Spirit in a Person’s Life. We encourage you to get it, read it and apply it. Your life will change! There is no other option but the Spirit controlled life! God wants your life to change to be transformed!

I know today your life can be hard.  You can be very hurt with others decisions in your life and your own decisions. We specialize in changing hard lives and desperate situations by skillfully using God’s Word to help people change their lives. There is hope for you and God wants you to have it! He is the God of hope! He is the God of good changes.

Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed (changed) by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove (demonstrate) what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Remember, be the vessel God can use today by asking the Holy Spirit to show you if you are living your life not dealing with your sin (lusts). Are you living in the sin of allowing selfish carnal thinking or listening to rule your life and making you react or rationalize your sin? Maybe you are afraid because you do not know how to change. God wants us to change to be conformed to the image of His Son. He will help us if we submit to Him. Don’t quit in the middle of a hurt, but refocus to see exactly what God wants you to learn.

Be all you can be for Him today and have a powerful testimony of living a Spirit controlled yielded godly life that is serving and living with humility, joy and peace! We encourage you today to make Jesus Christ real in your life by humbly yielding to Him at the point of impact and living for Him, not the life of selfish, carnal thinking and speaking. It is an important choice! Tell God you want to yield yourself to Him today and be a trusting, useful, and rewarded servant! Be the person who wants to change! Be the person who can help others change! Do not be the person who always needs to be helped, but the person who can help!

We pray for many of you daily! May we all humble ourselves before God and focus on having compassion on others! Let’s seek real Biblical change. May we all have the desire to make real Biblical long term change to the honor and glory of God!
